Paul Baker, Graphic Designer and Photographer, North Yorkshire.

I live near Ripon in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales with my wife and three small children. Having worked in creative media for over twenty years have always surrounded myself with inspirational images.

Becoming a father has changed the way I see the world around me. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of sitting watching my Dad project his slide film photos onto our sitting room wall. Now when I look back at those images, I am taken back to a wonderful, carefree time.

Photography is all about capturing a special moment, whether that is one of love, energy, surprise or humour. As such, that snapshot in time is recorded for eternity. That’s what I strive for in my photography. For me taking pictures is about bringing memories to life. I love to photograph people at their most relaxed, and often that is best achieved in home or familiar environments. This allows me to capture images that show people at their most naturally beautiful, photographs that are at their very core – honest.

As a designer I have worked independently and as part of a team – designing leaflets, brochures, posters and exhibition materials and digital experience with engaging websites. Delivering projects to the highest standards and often to tight deadlines. Flexibility and calmness under pressure were valuable assets where I have  worked. I have a proven ability to influence the decisions of key stakeholders, shaping the visual personality of projects with innovative and creative solutions.

I am skilled in writing design briefs and in concept presentation. Having superb layout and typographic ability with exacting attention to detail. In-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with over fifteen years experience using InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop specifically. Sound knowledge of litho and digital print processes with thorough capabilities creating accurate print-ready artwork.
